About Snug Homes
I’m Ryan Marshall, owner of The Handy Husband LLC and founder of Snug Homes Wisconsin.
My construction background began well before starting my own company. In 2007, I entered the trades as a steamfitter, where I developed a strong foundation in construction, fabrication, problem-solving, and working with complex building systems. After years in the trades, I decided to take that experience in a different direction and build a company of my own.
In 2021, my wife Amber and I started The Handy Husband LLC. What began as a small home repair and remodeling company has steadily grown into a full-service general contracting business serving homeowners and businesses throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
Over the years, my work has expanded from repairs, finish carpentry, drywall, doors, flooring, painting, and remodeling into larger renovation projects, project management, garages, post-frame buildings, additions, and new construction.
That growth ultimately led to the creation of Snug Homes Wisconsin.
Building Better Homes
Through Snug Homes Wisconsin, my focus is shifting toward building homes that perform better—not simply homes that meet minimum requirements.
I have become increasingly interested in high-performance and energy-efficient construction, especially Structural Insulated Panel (SIP) homes and advanced building-envelope systems. Snug Homes Wisconsin works with EPS Building Systems, allowing me to bring SIP construction, energy-efficient homes, garages, post-frame buildings, cabins, and other building solutions to customers throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
My approach is centered around a simple idea:
Built Tight. Built Right. Built to Save.
A home should be comfortable, durable, efficient, and built with attention to how the entire structure works as a system. That means thinking about insulation, air sealing, moisture control, structural performance, mechanical systems, and long-term operating costs—not just what the house looks like when construction is finished.
A Contractor Who Still Understands the Work
Although my role continues to grow into general contracting, project management, estimating, and new-home construction, I believe there is tremendous value in having hands-on experience.
I have personally worked on everything from doors, trim, drywall, flooring, stairs, decks, and remodeling to structural repairs, garages, post-frame buildings, and larger construction projects.
That experience helps me understand what is happening in the field, communicate with subcontractors, identify potential problems, and make practical decisions throughout a project.
I don't want to simply coordinate construction. I want to understand why something is being built a certain way and whether there is a better way to do it.
Continuing to Learn
Construction is constantly changing. Building science, energy codes, products, materials, and construction methods continue to improve, and I believe a good contractor should continue learning with them.
I continue to expand my knowledge of SIP construction, building science, air sealing, energy efficiency, moisture management, and high-performance homebuilding while maintaining the practical construction experience that The Handy Husband was built on.
I am a Wisconsin-licensed and insured general contractor and continue to develop relationships with builders, subcontractors, suppliers, manufacturers, real estate professionals, and other industry partners throughout Northeast Wisconsin.
Family-Owned and Northeast Wisconsin Focused
The Handy Husband started as a family business, and that remains an important part of who we are.
Amber has been involved with the business from the beginning and has also developed her own career in real estate. Together, our experience in construction and real estate gives us a broader understanding of what homeowners are looking for—not only while they're building or remodeling, but also in the long-term value, usability, and marketability of their homes.
Our roots are here in Northeast Wisconsin, and that is where I want to continue building.
Whether the project is a remodel, garage, post-frame building, addition, or a complete energy-efficient home, my goal is the same: provide practical solutions, quality construction, clear communication, and a finished project that makes sense for the customer long after the job is complete.
The Next Chapter
The Handy Husband LLC started by filling the gap between projects that were too much for homeowners to tackle themselves and projects that many larger contractors didn't want to take on.
That experience built the foundation for where the company is going today.
Snug Homes Wisconsin represents the next chapter—bringing that same hands-on mindset into new construction and helping Northeast Wisconsin homeowners build tighter, more comfortable, more efficient homes.
