What is a SIP?
SIP stands for Structural Insulated Panel.
Think of a SIP like a giant building sandwich. Instead of bread, it has strong wood panels on the outside. Instead of meat and cheese, it has thick rigid insulation in the middle. And instead of lunch, you get a stronger, tighter, more energy-efficient home.
SIPs are used for walls, roofs, and sometimes floors. The panels are built in a factory and then installed on site as large sections. That means the home’s shell can often go together faster than traditional stick framing.
The big benefit is comfort.
SIP homes are designed to help keep warm air in during the winter and hot air out during the summer. That matters here in Wisconsin, where the weather likes to test every part of your house.
